HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 6 (acn) Colombian Diego Tamayo and Cuban Marlies Mejías will appear as leaders in the second stage of the 2nd edition of the Titan Tropic mountain bike competition, which covers a distance of 140 kilometers today between the towns of Soroa and Viñales.
Tamayo won the first stage, a 106-kilometer circuit in Soroa, in the Cuban western province of Artemisa, with time of 3 hours, 19 minutes and 59 seconds, while the local Mejías (3: 51.29) was the first among the 15 women involved.
Mejias was escorted by Spain's Nuria Picas (3: 57.51) and the also Cuban Olga Echenique, last year champion, (4: 04.31).
The South American Tamayo, monarch of the first version, was followed by Spaniard Ismael Ventura (3: 21.58) and Cubans Yoandi Freire (3: 28.18) and Alvaro Soca (3: 29.11).
The third stage, an 82-kilometer circuit in Viñales, will be tomorrow, while the fourth and final of the event will be held on Thursday, with 68 kilometers from Viñales to Jutía Key.
