Cubans win silver and bronze medals in NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 28 (acn) The Cuban duos of Nivaldo Díaz-Sergio González and Karell Peña-Daisel Quesada won on Sunday silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the last stop of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit, held in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the website of the tournament, Diaz and Gonzalez lost in the final 0-2 (18-21 and 19-21) to Canadians Sam Schachter and Sam Pedlow.
In the semi-final round, Schachter and Pedlow beat 2-0 (21-12 and 21-12) the US-A pair made up by William Allen and Theodore Brunner, while Diaz and Gonzalez defeated 2-0 (21-18, 21-15) the also Cubans Karell Peña and Daisel Quesada.
Peña and Quesada won 2-1 (21-18, 16-21 and 15-13) over Allen and Brunner in the bronze medal match.
Cuba was also present in the competition through a women´s duet composed of Yanisleidis Sánchez and Lidiannis Echeverría, who finished fourth after losing 1-2 (19-21, 21-18 and 13-15) for the bronze medal to Americans Brooke Sweat and Emily Day.
The crown of this event went to Canadians Melissa Humana-Paredes and Jamie Broder, who defeated Americans Kimberly DiCello and Summer Ross in the final, with score of 2-1 (17-21, 21-16 and 15-12).
