HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 25 (acn) Granma beat 8-7 Camagüey on Thursday, reaching thus its 39th victory in the current Cuban National Baseball Series and now appears third in the standings, sending Villa Clara, which lost to Ciego de Avila, to the 3rd seat.
In the bottom of the ninth Camaguey was ahead 7-5, thanks mainly to homers by Alexander Ayala, Rafael Viñales and Yosbel Perez, but outfielder Dennis Laza hit a three-run walk-off homer off closer Yormani Socarras, loser of the game.
First baseman Guillermo Aviles also hit a three-run homerun to Granma, while reliever Andri Aguila claimed victory.
In another match of the night, headquartered at Calixto Garcia Park, Holguín defeated 6-5 Matanzas in 11 innings.
The Crocodiles went ahead through a two-run homer by infielder Juan C. Torriente, but the locals managed to reach the ninth winning 5-2, offensive that included a solo homer by outfielder Yusniel Ibañez.
Holguin´s manager properly brought his ace closer Livan Moinello who allowed two hits, a walk, a wild pitch and decisive double by infielder Yurisbel Gracial to tie the score 5-5.
Moinello recovered himself by pitching two extra scoreless innings and earned the win when infielder Yunior Paumier hit a walk-off sacri-fly in the 11th inning.
Finally, right-hander Vladimir Garcia achieved his 11th win of the season, leader, when surrendering only two hits and one unearned run in 8 innings in Ciego de Avila´s 9-1 win over Villa Clara.
Ciego de Avila´s offensive included a two-run homer by catcher Osvaldo Vasquez, who now tied as leader of this stat with 12 homeruns with Villa Clara´s Yeniet Perez and his teammate Luis R. Moiran.
