Cuban beach volleyball duets depart for Trinidad and Tobago

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 23 (acn) Cuba's top three duos will travel to Trinidad and Tobago today to compete from the 25th to the 27th in the final of the North, Central America and Caribbean (NORCECA) Beach Volleyball Circuit.

Sergio Gonzalez and Nivaldo Diaz, fifth seat at Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, are leading the group, which also includes the pairs Karell Peña-Daisel Quesada and Lidianny Echeverría-Yanileydis Sánchez, the latter are women.
This event is of special importance, as it provides a double score and it is also a qualifying tournament for the 2017 World Championship, in Australia.
Leonides Regueiferos, head coach of the men´s squads, told reporters that their final goal is Tokyo 2020 Olympics, without forgetting the Pan American and Central American and Caribbean Games.
He added they are also working with two other duets whose aim is attending the U-21 World Championship.
Meanwhile, Mayra Ferrer and Adilson Milanes, coaches of the women´s team, noted they pupils have shown a great performance this year since they unexpectedly won the event in Varadero, Cuba, and finished second in the fourth stop of the circuit, in Costa Rica, and now they will have the possibility of gaining a ticket to the World Cup.
