HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 22 (ACN) Cuban Alejandro Valdes remains undefeated in the German Wrestling Tournament (Bundesliga), where he reached his nine win as member of the club SVG Weingarten.
In his most recent appearance, Valdes, two-time Pan-American monarch in the 66 kg division, beat 4-0 the local Dawid Wolny, though he was unable to prevent his team's 11-14 loss to the KSV Aalen 05.
However, the winning streak of the Cuban athlete, who in the next few days will attend the Grand Prix of Azerbaijan, scheduled from November 24 to 26, is amazing.
After those results, the SVG Weingarten appears third in the standings with 14 units, same amount of the Aalen 05 which ranks second; while the KSV Ispringen (15) took the lead, according to the website www.radiohc.cu .
Four days left to close the qualifying stage, so Valdés' club should have no problem advancing to the semifinals and improving its fifth seat last season.
Two other Cuban wrestlers also compete in the German tournament, the three-time Olympic champion Mijaín López (130 kilos), and Yowlys Bonne (66), both members of the ASV Nandingen.
So far, Lopez achieves one win in his only outing to the mattress; while Bonne lost his first bout.
