Cuban GM Dominguez loses in European Chess Club Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 11 (acn) Cuban Leinier Domínguez lost to Russia's Dmitry Andreikin and saw his team, Mednyi Vsadnik, to descend to the third seat of the 32nd European Chess Club Cup taking place in Novi Sad, Serbia.

In this fifth round of the contest, Dominguez lost in 45 moves of a Scottish opening.
Dominguez didn´t lose since Ukrainian Vasili Ivanchuk beat him at the Capablanca Memorial last June 13th.
The Alkaloid defeated 3.5-2.5 the Mednyi Vsadnik, and now is the solo leader with 10 points.
Russian Peter Svidler achieved the only win for the losing side when beating Chinese Liren Ding, but Dominguez and Russian Vladimir Fedoseev lost to the aforementioned Andreikin and Yuriy Kryvoruchko respectively and that made the difference.
The Syberia ranks second with 9 units after defeating 3.5-2.5 the Ashdod, with highlight to Dutch Anish Giri who beat Spanish Francisco Vallejo.
The women group is headed by the Monte Carlo, which totals 10 units after crushing 4-0 the Ladya Kazan.
