SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Nov 4 (acn) The 1st Moncada Heroes National Boxing Cup runs until next Sunday at Alejandro Urgellés Multipurpose Hall, in the city of Santiago de Cuba, with the presence of 62 athletes.
Created by Alcides Sagarra, founder of the Cuban boxing school, this first edition presents boxers from five provinces, but the perspective is to grow in number of delegations, and even including the members of the national team.
Noel Torres, commissioner of this sport in the province, said that this territory was chosen by Dr. Sagarra himself and that this contest will serve each year as training for Playa Giron National Boxing Tournament.
The competition, which pays homage to the attackers of the Moncada barracks and the heroes of Cuban sport, enlivens the atmosphere in Santiago de Cuba, which will host the 55 th Playa Girón National Boxing Tournament from December 11 to 17 that will be attended by the best boxers in the country.
