Cuban baseball: leaders keep winning streak

Cuban baseball: leaders keep winning streakHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 3 (acn) The second day of the 56th Cuban National Baseball Series second part produced no change in the standings after the wins of the favorite teams of Matanzas, Ciego de Avila and Granma.

A three-run homer by pinch-hitter Eliecer Griñán in the bottom of the eighth tied the score for Ciego de Ávila when everything seemed to indicate that Noelvis Entenza, Holguin´s pitcher, would win the second game to level the subseries to a win by side.
In the ninth, catcher Osvaldo Vazquez hit a walk-off single off reliever Livan Moinello, loser of the match and now with balance of 8 wins and 5 losses, to help closer Jose Angel Garcia achieving his first win of the season (1-1).
In the other evening subseries, Granma defeated 6-2 Villa Clara with offensive highlight for Guillermo Aviles, who drove in three runs, while the winner was lefty Leandro Martinez (6-3) and Pinar del Rio´s reinforcement, Yosvany Torres (3-4), took the loss.
Finally, Matanzas knocked out 10-0 Camaguey at Victoria de Giron Park, with Yoanni Yera as winner and Yariel Rodriguez as loser, in a match where first baseman William Saavedra, reinforcement from Pinar del Rio, homered twice.
