Cuban Dominguez appears 17th in the World Chess Ranking

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 1 (acn) Cuba celebrated today the rise of Leinier Dominguez to 17th seat in the world chess ranking, updated to govern during the month of November.

Excellent performance of five wins and two draws in the Spanish Club Championship allowed Dominguez to accumulate 16 units with which he set his ELO in 2 752 points, climbing from 23rd position in the previous month.
So, he moved closer to his historic amount (2 768 points) and seat (10th) achieved on May 2014, an additional motivation to face since Sunday the European clubs competition in the ranks of Russia´s St. Petersburg.
The planet top remained unchanged for Norwegian Magnus Carlsen (2 853), 30 points ahead of American Fabiano Caruana (2 823), who now ranks second.
The latter won 10 units and climbed from fourth spot and is now escorted by French Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (2811), Russian Vladimir Kramnik (2810) and Armenian Levon Aronian (2795), who complete the top five of the ranking.
American Wesley So (2794), Indian Viswanathan Anand (2779), the also American Hikaru Nakamura (2779), Russian Sergey Karjakin (2772) and the also Indian Pentala Harikrishna (2768) appear from 6 to 10 seats.
In Cuba, Yuniesky Quesada ranked for the third consecutive time as second man of the national list with 2 626 units, although Lazaro Bruzon (2 618) is right behind him.
Meanwhile, Lisandra Ordaz is the leader of the Cuban women´s ranking with 2 370 points.
