Cubans intensify Their Training for Wrestling Grand Prix

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 18 (acn) With an eye on the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, to be held from November 22 to 25, the Cuban wrestlers intensify their training for that strong contest.

Cuba will compete in the tournament with 15 athletes; most of them went to the Pan American Championships of Frisco, Texas, last March, a list that will be headed by Yasmany Lugo (98 kilograms), Olympic silver medalist in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
Besides Lugo, Javier Dumenigo (59), Miguel Martinez (66), Daniel Gregorich (85) and Oscar Pino (130) will be the other Cuban wrestlers in Greco-Roman style.
Also, it excels the presence of Reineris Salas, twice world runner-up and champion of Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, in the freestyle event.
Salas, who like his teammates train at Cerro Pelado High Performance Athletes Center, told ACN that the Grand Prix will be a demanding tournament because it will be attended by top class rivals, including Olympic, world medalists and continental champions.
Eliecer Guevara (57), Yowlys Bonne (61), Alejandro Valdés (65), Liván López (74), and Yudelmis Alpajón (125) will accompany Salas in the Freestyle event.
Meanwhile, a Cuban women´s squad made up by Lienna de la Caridad Montero (59), Yackelin Stornell (60), Katherine Vidiaux (63) and Yudaris Sánchez (69) will compete for the first time in that European nation.
