HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 29 (acn) Cuban Leinier Dominguez achieved his second win in three outings and supported the consolidation of the Sestao Foundacion EDP at the top of the Spanish Team Championship Honor Division (CECLUB by its Spanish acronym) held in Aragon community.
In the second board, Leinier (2720 Elo points) beat Indian Baskaran Adhiban (2671) in 39 moves of a Spanish opening to establish himself as an important part in the 5-2 victory of his team which now totals five units.
In this moment, Leinier accumulates 2.5 points of possible 3 and virtually appears number 20 in the world ranking with gain of 23.2 units to his Elo amount if adding the total achieved earlier this month at the World Chess Olympiad.
The other winners of his side were Hungarian Richard Rapport (2752), third in a row, and Frenchman Edouard Romain (2635).
Less fortunate were the also Cuban Yuniesky Quesada (2634) and his team, the Equigoma Casa Social Catolica, as he could only drew in the third board with Ukrainian Yuriy Kuzubov (2629) and the series was won 4.5-2.5 by the Jaime Casas Club.
With this loss the Equigoma fell to sixth seat with 2 points in a standing where the Merida Patrimonio de la Humanidad (5 units), Jaime Casas (4), Solvay (3) and Club Magic Extremadura (3) rank from 2 to 5 spots respectively, while the VTI Chess 24 Atocha and the Gros Xake Taldea, both with a single point, appear last.
These are the pairings for today´s fourth round: Sestao vs. Jaime Casas, Taldea- Solvay, Atocha-Extremadura and Equigoma-Merida.
