Cuba goes for second win in U23 Women's Pan American Volleyball CupHAVANA, Cuba, Sep 21 (acn) Cuba will seek today its second win in the 3rd U23 Women's Pan American Volleyball Cup when facing the Dominican Republic, on the third day of the contest, which takes place at Manuel Bonilla Coliseum in Lima, Peru.

Yesterday, Cubans lost 1-3 (21-25, 25-18, 18-25 and 22-25) to Argentina but managed to win 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-18) over Costa Rica.
The top scorer in the latter match was Yalennis Castillo, who totaled 16 points, supported by Haidey Casanova (14), while Tania Carazo (8) and Yuliana Gonzalez (6) stood out by the losing side.
According to the stats of the game, Cubans were better in attack (39-18), blocking (6-5) and service (11-6), but their rivals dominated in unforced errors (19-26).
In yesterday´s other results, Argentina and Peru beat 3-1 and 3-0 the Dominican Republic (21-25, 25-17, 29-27, 25-22) and Trinidad and Tobago (25-11, 25-6 and 25-7), respectively.
Today's program is completed with the matches Trinidad and Tobago-Costa Rica, and Peru-Argentina.
Peru and Argentina lead the standings with two wins and no defeats, followed by the Dominican Republic and Cuba (1-1) and Costa Rica and Trinidad and Tobago (0-2).
The semifinals will be on September 24th and the final will take place a day later.
The teams finishing first and second will earn the two tickets awarded by NORCECA to the 2017 World Cup, while the third seat will win another berth granted by the South American Volleyball Confederation.
