HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (acn) Cuban pole vaulter Yarisley Silva will try this Friday to improve her performance in Olympic Games after winning the silver medal four years ago in London.
Silva, the current world champion, finished second in the B group of the qualifiers with a jump of 4.60 meters high.
Meanwhile the 4x400 meter relays in both sexes will run for the first time in teh qualifiers today.
In free style wrestling the first Cubans to compete will be Yowlys Bonne against Uzbek Abbos Rakhmonov in the 57 kilogram division and Liván López in 74 versus Spanish Taimuraz Friev Naskidaeva
In rowing kayaker Fidel Antonio Vargas will try to reach semi-finals in the 200 meter race, while Serguey Torres and Fernando Jorge will do the same in the C-2 event
In modern pentathlon, to be held in three facilities, Leidy Laura Moya will compete in swimming, riding horses and the combined shooting-athletics, after finishing 29th among 36 participants in the Olympics.
