RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Aug 12 (acn) The Cuban delegation participating in the 31st Olympic Games made a press release announcing that triple jumper Pedro Pablo Pichardo will not compete in the Games.

Dr. Pablo Castillo, deputy director of the Institute of Sports Medicine in Cuba, explained that Pichardo insisted on his willingness to compete, aware of the prevailing interest of Cuban fans, but it prevailed the traditional priority given by the Cuban sports movement to health of its protagonists.
