Cuban men´s volleyball team loses to Egypt in Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Aug 10 (acn) In its second appearance, the Cuban men´s volleyball team lost to Egypt in match of group B at the 31st Olympic Games held in this city.

The young Caribbean squad lost 0-3 (22-25, 15-25 and 22-25) and they showed themselves unstable at Maracanazinho stadium, with inaccuracies in much of the game parameters.
The leading scorer by Cubans was Javier Jimenez with 10 points, followed by Livan Osoria (9) and Miguel Angel Castro (7).
Egyptians effectively combined defensively and offensively during 66 minutes on the court, and they were better in attack, blocking and service.
Ahmed Abou Abd stood out by the African nation when scoring 20 points, 15 spikes, 2 blocks and 3 aces.
Cuba lost in its debut 1-3 to Russia, Olympic champion in London 2012.
Iran, Argentina and Poland, in that order, will be Cuba´s next rivals.
The side coached by Nicolas Vives appears last in the group, which is led by Argentines with six points, followed by Poland (5) Russia (3), Egypt (3) and Iran (1).
