Cuban boxers debut in Rio OlympicsRIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil, Aug 8 (acn) Cuban boxing will have today its first commitments in the 31st Olympic Games, based at the Riocentro Complex of this city, through the debut of light flyweight Joahnys Argilagos and heavyweight Erislandy Savon.

Argilagos, 2015 world champion, was drawn as number one and will face British Galal Yafai, who defeated on Saturday Cameroon´s Simplice Fotsala.
Savon, world runner-up in 2015, will clash with the also British Lawrence Okolie, who previously beat Polish Igor Jakubowski.
This sport, which had its premiere in 1904 in the US city of San Luis, is one of the emblems of the Cuban delegation in Rio de Janeiro, where it came with athletes in the 10 men's divisions and with real possibilities of winning medals in each of them.
Cuba also competes today in swimming through Elisbet Games in the women´s 200-meter freestyle event.
In addition, at the Olympic Shooting Centre, Alexander Molerio Quintana and Reinier Estupiñán will be among the 50 shooters at the 10m air rifle men´s qualification; while the judoka Magdiel Estrada (73 kg) will face in the final qualifying round Jaromir Jezek, from Czech Republic.
Until London 2012, Cuba attended 19 editions of the Olympic Games with 209 medals, including 72 gold, 67 silver and 70 bronze.
