Cuba takes bronze in Women´s U20 Volleyball Continental ChampionshipHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 1 (acn) The Dominican Republic won the gold medal in the 2016 NORCECA Women´s U20 Volleyball Continental Championship when beating the host United States, while Cuba finished third.

With stage at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Dominicans achieved the title when winning 3-1 (25-22, 25-14, 23-25 and 25-17), result that guaranteed them the only ticket the contest granted for the 2017 World Cup.
In the bronze medal match, Cubans defeated Puerto Rico 3-1 (18-25, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-16), highlighting Dalila Palma, who scored 21 points, 17 spikes, seven blocks and one ace.

Palma had the support of Diaris Pérez (17-11-5-1) and Elizabeth Vicet (13-13-0-0), while Dariana Hollongsworth (17-17-0-0) excelled for Puerto Ricans, according to the website of the tournament.

Cuba dominated the stats of the game, with a positive balance in attack (55-44), and blocking (11-4), while they were even in service (4-4) and Puerto Ricans were better regarding unforced errors (23-29).

Finally, Mexico, Costa Rica, Haiti and French St. Martin finished fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, in that order.
