HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 20 (acn) The Cuban futsal pre-selection, made up by 16 players, will leave today to Chile, where it will play six friendly matches as training for the World Cup, based in Cali, Colombia, in coming September.
"The first game will be on July 21st against Colo Colo and on the 23 rd we will face Cobresal, both of them belonging to the Chilean first division. But the highlight will be the matches scheduled for July 25 and 26 versus the local national team, ¨Clemente Reynoso, head coach of the Cuban side, told ACN.
For the seasoned trainer, the ultimate goal of this visit to Chile will be working on improving the defensive system and see how tactical movements that have been trained in the last two months have evolved.
"Moreover, in Chile I intend to test two athletes newly incorporated, as the goalkeeper Yasmani Martinez and wing Lazaro Pena. Their performance will tell me if they can be included in the group of 14 athletes who will attend the World Cup in Colombia, "said Reynoso.
The list of 16 players who will leave for Chile is made up by keepers Brenneth Suarez, Yasmany Martinez and Nelson Jhonston and defenders Ronald Egozcue and Daniel Hernandez.
Meanwhile, Sandy Dominguez, Diego Ramirez, Luis Lázaro Peña and Luis Yunior Portal will be the wings, while Karel Mariño, Ricardo Edgar Castillo and Reinier Socarrás act as wing-defenders.
Finally, the functions of wing-pivot are covered by Luis Fiallo and Orlando Jerez, while pívots will be Alejandro Marrero and Jhonnet Stalin Martínez.
For the World Cup of Cali, the Cuban team was included in the tough Pool B, along with Russia, Egypt and Thailand.
