HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 7 (acn) Cuban wrestlers are in Spain to compete in the Grand Prix of that European nation to take place on July 9 and 10.
Cuba will attend that competition with its 10 wrestlers qualified to the Olympics, so it will be a good warm-up opportunity to face rivals at the highest level.
The group in the Greco-Roman style is headed by Mijail Lopez (130 kilograms), an athlete who treasures in his record five world titles and two gold Olympic medals, Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
The list in this category is completed with Ismael Borrero (59 kilos), gold medalist in the universal contest last year; as well as Miguel Martinez (66), Yurisandy Hernandez (75) and Yasmany Lugo (98).
In the case of the exponents of the free style, the five athletes are Livan Lopez (74), bronze medalist in London 2012; Reineris Salas (86), world runner-up in Budapest 2013 and Taskent 2014; Yowlys Bonne (57) and Javier Cortina (97), winners of bronze medals in Taskent, as well as the double continental monarch Alejandro Valdes (65).
In the most recent training stage of the Cuban wrestlers, they won two scepters in Open of Poland, as well as four crowns in the Canada Cup; both events took place last June.
Cuban wrestlers will attend Rio de Janeiro Olympics with the aim of two medals in each style.
