HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 4 (acn) Cuba defeated Costa Rica in the Group B second day of the 15th Women's Volleyball Pan American Cup, based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, event which grants six tickets to the 2017 Grand Prix.
According to the website of the tournament, Cubans won 3-0 (25-9, 25-8 and 25-18) and achieved thus their second victory as they had previously beat Trinidad and Tobago also 3-0.
Although Coach Roberto Garcia used almost all his players in the match, the highlights among the openers went to Regla Gracia, with eight points, followed by Jennifer Alvarez (8), Daimara Lescay (7) and Captain Sulian Matienzo (7).
Dayami Sanchez (7) also stood out but as substitute.
In yesterday's other matches, USA won 3-0 to Peru in Pool B, while Puerto Rico beat Colombia 3-0 in Group A.
Actions continue today with the games Mexico-Venezuela, Canada-Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic-Colombia in Group A, while Costa Rica-Peru, Argentina-Trinidad Tobago and USA-Cuba will be the matches in Pool B.
