HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 29 (acn) Cuba and United States will fight for the scepter today of the Men's U19 NORCECA Volleyball Championship, with a stage in the Sports City Coliseum in Havana.
With the tickets for the 2017 World Cup already secured, Cubans and Americans, silver and gold medalists in the previous edition of Tulsa 2014, in that order, will face each other as undefeated squads of Groups B and A, respectively, and the semi-final stage.
The host team advanced to the discussion of the crown when defeating yesterday 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) Nicaragua, while USA won 3-2 (17-25, 25-18, 25-23, 23-25 and 17-15) over Mexico.
Cuba finished first in Pool B with 14 points, three wins and no loss, followed by Mexico (11-2-1), Jamaica (5-1-2) and Antigua and Barbuda (0-0-3).
United States (15-3-0) led Group A, escorted by Nicaragua (7-2-1), Dominican Republic (4-1-2) and Costa Rica (4-0-3).
Nicaraguans and Mexicans will play for the bronze medal also today.
In yesterday's other matches, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic beat 3-0 Costa Rica (25-17, 28-26 and 27-25) and Antigua and Barbuda 3-0 (25-11, 25-18 and 25-16), in that order.
Jamaicans and Dominicans will today fight for fifth spot, while Costa Rica and Antigua and Barbuda will battle for the seventh seat.
