Cuba takes day off after winning streak in Can-Am baseball league

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 27 (acn) Cuba rests today with positive balance of nine wins and seven losses on its tour against teams from the Can-Am League, after completing the sweep over the Rockland Boulders.

The Cuban squad reached its sixth consecutive victory in the American baseball circuit by winning on Sunday with score of 5-1, with offensive highlight for outfielder Julio Pablo Martinez, who homered and drove in three runs in the match.
Vladimir Baños allowed one run in six innings to achieve his second win in the tour of the Caribbean side to several cities in Canada and the United States, supported by solid relieves by Livan Moinelo and Jose Angel Garcia, while Markus Solbach took the loss.
After today's break, Cuba will face from Tuesday, in the last subseries of the team through North America, the New Jersey Jackals (23-13), second in the standings behind the Quebec Capitales (23-11).
The series against teams from the Can-Am League serves as preparation for the Caribbean side towards upcoming international commitments, highlighting the match versus the American university team, from July 22 to 27 in three Cuban cities.
