HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 24 (acn) Cuba will face today the Czech Republic, in the Group 2 Pool D2 second day of the 2016 FIVB Men's World Volleyball League, based in the NTC Aegon Arena, in the city of Bratislava.
After losing on Thursday to the Slovaks, Cubans worsened their chances of advancing to the final of this group, in which seven other teams fight for the same purpose in Pools E and F, with headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, and Saskatoon, Canada.
The Caribbean squad lost 1-3 (19-25, 23-25, 25-22 and 22-25) in the first day to the local side, while Czech Republic won 3-2 (25-21, 19-25, 25- 23, 20-25, 15-11) over the Netherlands.
Given the results of the first week and those of last Thursday, these four teams have similar balance of four points, two wins and two defeats.
This second of three preliminary weeks will begin today in Cairo, headquarters of Pool E, with the presence of the host Egypt, Finland, Japan and Turkey, and in Saskatoon, venue of Pool F, with the local Canada, China, South Korea and Portugal.
Portugal will be in the final of the second level accompanied by the top three ranked sides in the standings.
