Cuba defeats Antigua in Centrobasket tournamentHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 22 (acn) Cuba defeated 88-66 Antigua and Barbuda, for its second win in the 2016 Men's Central American and Caribbean Basketball Championship, also known as Centrobasket, based in Panama until June 25.

The Cuban team showed its command on the court since the first half of the match, which won with a score of 38-28, difference that increased in the third and fourth quarters (24-20 and 26-18), according to the website of the International Basketball Federation.
The pivot Javier Jústiz, who scored 18 points, highlighted again for the Cuban side and this time was supported by forward William Granda (17) and guard Osmel Oliva (14).
The power-forward Yordanis Jaca also had an outstanding performance when scoring 12 units and grabbing 10 rebounds for the winners; while Raviel Burton led the attack of the losing side with 15 points.
In addition, Cuba had an amazing collective performance by having a 51.6 percent in 2P field goal average and an astonishing 40 % in 3P FG.
With that victory, Cuba now has balance of 2-0 in Group A, after debuting on Sunday with an easy win 98-50 over Nicaragua; and today, in its third outing to the court, it will have a tough matchup against Puerto Rico.
This competition on Panamanian soil grants five tickets to the continental qualifying tournament to the World Cup of China 2019, which will be attended for the first time by 32 countries.
Daniel Scott, head coach of the Cuban team, told ACN that this event has the added value of awarding seven seats to the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.
