HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 22 (acn) The stellar featherweight Robeisy Ramirez appears a step away from completing the Cuban team that will participate in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Robeisy earned his third win in the qualifying tournament organized in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan, by defeating 3-0 (30-27, 30-25, 30-27) Jordanian Mohamed Abdelaziz al-Wadi in bout that guaranteed him accessing to quarterfinals.
It was not a tough fight, he said shortly after reiterating his dominion over a man whom he had already defeated in Havana.
Tomorrow, the London 2012 flyweight monarch, will rival Kenyan Benson Gicharu, who beat 3-0 (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Ecuadorian Segundo Padilla.
Four of the five seats allocated to that division will be then defined and the Cuban ace boxer will be favorite to hold the step previously shown against Finnish Arslan Khataev and Omurbek Malabekov, from Kyrgyzstan.
