HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 20 (acn) Cuba lost 6-3 to the Ottawa Champions achieving thus its seventh defeat in the tour of the Canadian-American (Can-Am) League, and continues without reaching two consecutive wins.
Cuban Alexander Malleta batted 2 for 4, including a double and three RBIs as the most outstanding offensive player by the winners, together with Sebastien Boucher, who hit 3 for 4 with a homer, three RBIs and two runs scored.
Cuba's best offensive player was shortstop Yorbis Borroto, 3 for 4 with an RBI, while outfielders Julio Pablo Martinez and Luis Robert Moirán drove in the other two runs of the Caribbean team.
Cuban starting pitcher Yosvany Torres allowed five hits and three earned runs in three and a third innings, although the loss went to reliever Lazaro Blanco, who allowed two runs and as many hits in an inning and a third.
Meanwhile, Daniel Cordero pitched six innings allowing six hits and two earned runs to claim the victory for the Ottawa Champions, while Tyler Wilson earned the save.
Now Cuba has negative balance of three wins and seven losses in the tour agreed to 19 games against teams of the Can-Am League.
After today's break, the side coached by manager Roger Machado will face from tomorrow the Sussex County Miners continuing thus its competitive tour of several cities in Canada and the United States, training campaign for upcoming international events.
