Cuban discus thrower finishes third in Stockholm

Cuban discus thrower finishes third in StockholmHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 17 (acn) Cuban discus thrower Denia Caballero, world champion last year, won the bronze medal at the eighth stop of the IAAF Diamond League, based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Caballero, champion in Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, ranked third on the podium with 63.85 meters in a contest in which her compatriot Yaime Pérez (59.88) finished fourth.
To Denia, this was her third medal in the strong athletic competition as she had previously finished third in the meetings of Oslo and Shanghai, so she now totals 12 points in the entire contest.
The event on Swedish soil was won again by Croatian Sandra Perkovic with record of 68.32 m, far from her nearest rival, French Mélina Robert-Michon (64.96), as reflected in the IAAF website.
With this result, Perkovic, London 2012 Olympic champion, kept her perfect step with four titles, so she remains a leader in the Diamond League with 40 units, followed by Caballero and German Nadine Muller, both with 12 points.
In the case of Perez, silver medalist in the continental competition which hosted Canada last July, she appears fifth with seven points, preceded by Robert-Michon (10).
This seventh edition of the IAAF Diamond League will have 14 stops and a new scoring system that will grant points those finishing among the six first seats in each event.
The winners will get 10 points, runner-ups will earn 6 units, and bronze medalists will win four; while those ending in the fourth, fifth and sixth spots will receive three, two and one unit, in that order.
