HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 17 (acn) The Cuban U-20 soccer team will face today its counterpart from Puerto Rico, on the second day of the first phase of the Caribbean, based in San Martin, towards next year's World Cup.
The pupils of Coach Raul Gonzalez Triana lost last Wednesday on its debut 1-2 to Antigua and Barbuda.
In that match, Antigua managed to score twice in the first half through striker Javorn Stevens, at 14 and 24 minutes, then Lazaro Yasmani scored for Cuba (41st minute) but they failed to tie the score in the half.
It will not be easy for Cuban players today against Puerto Ricans, who scandalously beat 9-0 the local squad, highlighting Javier De La Rosa, Jeimax Osoria and Carmelo Carrillo, authors of two goals apiece.
The first seat of the group will get the only ticket available to the Caribbean regional final, which will be held in Curacao, next October.
In 2013, Cuba attended for the first time a U-20 Soccer World Cup, played in Turkey.
