HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 14 (acn) Cuban freestyle wrestlers won four gold medals in the Granma-Cerro Pelado International Wrestling Tournament, which was attended by Olympic and world medalists.
The list of winners includes Livan Lopez (74 kg), bronze medalist in London 2012 Olympics; and Reineris Salas (86), twice runner-up in universal events.
Both athletes reached the title in their divisions, although in the case of Salas, he competed in the 97 kilos as a strategy of the coaching staff.
Salas, Toronto 2015 Pan-American monarch, told the press he is entirely focused in winning an Olympic medal in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
The other scepter winners were Franklin Marén (70 kg), Yuriesky Torreblanca (86) and Puerto Rican Franklin Gomez, who proved the world silver medal he won in Istanbul 2011 was not by chance.
Gomez beat 8-6 in the final Cuban Alejandro Valdes, in a bout full of emotions and rivalry.
