HAVANA , Cuba, Jun 6 (acn) The Cuba Domadores regained the crown of the World Series of Boxing (WSB) by beating 9-1 the British Lion Hearts in the final of the sixth edition of this tournament.
The outcome materialized in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, allowed the Caribbean squad to improve the second seat they earned the previous season and conquer again the scepter achieved in the fourth edition, scene of their debut in these contests.
Cuba's win included four TKOs (bantamweight Robeisy Ramirez, welterweight Roniel Iglesias, middleweight Arlen Lopez and superheavyweight Erislandy Savon), equal number of 3-0 decisions (light flyweight Yoahnys Argilagos, lightweight Lazaro Alvarez, light welterweight Yasnier Toledo and light heavyweight Julio Cesar La Cruz) and a 2-1 victory (flyweight Yosbany Veitia).
British's only win went to superheavyweight Frazer Clarke who won by TKO in the fourth round over Leinier Pero.
The reign of the Caribbean side became the climax of a performance marked by a manifest superiority expressed in balance of 27 wins and only 3 losses in the preliminary phase and 10-0 shutouts in quarterfinals and semifinals.
