Cuban Cepeda will be captain in volleyball friendly against the US

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 3 (acn) Captain Rolando Cepeda leads the Cuban volleyball men's team that will face USA tomorrow at the Sports City Coliseum in the first of two warm-up matches for the Olympic Games next August in Rio de Janeiro.

In addition to Cepeda, outside hitter, the squad announced on Thursday by the National Federation of the sport includes inside hitters Javier Jimenez and Osmani Uriarte, and central blocker Livan Osoria, who all played this season in foreign leagues.
Osoria was part of the young side which recently won the Pan American Cup in Mexico and one of the tickets this event granted for the 2017 World Volleyball League.
The other novice players who were in that champion team and repeat now are the inside hitter Abrahan Alfonso, central blocker Luis Sosa, setters Ricardo Calvo and Adrian Goire and outside hitter Dariel Albo.
The squad also includes the attackers Osniel Melgarejo and Mario Rivera, central blocker Javier Concepcion, and liberos Yonder García and Reinier Rojas.
The head coach will be Rodolfo Sanchez, who will be supported by coaches Pavel Pimienta and Nicolas Vives, Dr. Antonio Iznaga and physiotherapist Pedro Roche Ricard, while Manolito Espinosa will be as head of delegation.
The American squad announced includes Matt Anderson (inside hitter), David Lee (central blocker), Paul Lotman (inside hitter), Kawika Shoji (setter), Reid Priddy (inside hitter), Murphy Troy (outside hitter), Thomas Jaeschke (inside hitter), Micah Christenson (setter), Russell Holmes (central blocker), Max Holt (central blocker), Garrett Muagututia (inside hitter), David Smith (central blocker), Dustin Watten (libero) and Erik Shoji (libero), under tutelage of head coach John Speraw, assisted by coaches Matt Fuerbringer and Mike Wall.
