HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 1 (acn) Cuban Olympic qualified Andy Pereira and Jorge Moisés Campos, along with the promising player Idalys Lovet, will attend from June 3 to 5 the 2016 ITTF Latin American Cup in Guatemala City, capital of that country.

The competition, with a stage at the Multisport Dome of that Central American city, will bring together several of the leading figures in the area, in both sexes, including those already qualified to Rio de Janeiro 2016, said the website of the Latin American Table Tennis Union (LATTU).

In addition to Pereira and Campos, other players who confirmed their participation are Brazilians Hugo Calderano and Eric Jouti, Argentine Pablo Tabachnik, Dominican Emil Santos, Ecuador's Alberto Miño, El Salvador's Josué Donado, Mexican Marcos Madrid, Puerto Rican Daniel Gonzalez and the locals Heber Moscoso and Allan Gutierrez.

Meanwhile, the women's event will also include Ana Codina (Argentina), Caroline Kumahara and Lin Gui (Brazil), Katherine Low and Paulina Vega (Chile), Lady Ruano and Paula Medina (Colombia), Estefania Ramirios (El Salvador), Yadira Silva (Mexico), Gremlis Arvelo (Venezuela) and Andrea Estrada (Guatemala).

Precisely for this sixth edition, Kumahara appears as the main favorite to repeat the title and thereby reach her fourth crown after those achieved in San Jose 2012 (Costa Rica), Asuncion 2014 (Paraguay) and Havana 2015 (Cuba).

For this occasion, the contest will not be attended by Brazilian Gustavo Tsuboi, monarch of the previous version, Puerto Rican Brian Afanador, Argentine Gaston Alto and the host Jose Miguel Ramirez, while Puerto Rican Adriana Diaz and Brazilian Bruna Takahashi will be the main absents among women.

For Cubans, who will leave on Thursday to the Guatemalan capital, the tournament will be conducive to their preparation for the Olympic Games.
