Idalis Ortiz wins World Judo Masters in GuadalajaraHAVANA, Cuba, May 30 (acn) Cuban Idalis Ortiz won the title in the more than 78 kilograms division when beating Chinese Sisi Ma in the final of the World Judo Masters in Guadalajara, Mexico, a tournament that awards 700 points to the champions for the Olympic ranking.

According to the website of the event, Ortiz, Olympic and twice world champion, won by Ippon when the board showed 3,05 minutes to the closing of the bout.

The Chinese judoka has won three gold medals in the Grand Slams of Abu Dhabi and Tyumen, in 2015 and the 2014 Asian Games.

In this tourney Ortiz also defeated Russian Ksenia Chibisova, Brazilian Maria Altheman and Tunisian Rouhou Nihel.
The also Cuban José Armenteros (100 kilos), world runner-up, couldn't reach the podium and finished fifth after losing in the bronze medal fight to Swedish Martin Pacek.

Pacek holds gold medals at the Grand Prix of Tbilisi 2016 and Qingdao 2014, and the Grand Slam of Tyumen 2015.
Cubans Yalennis Castillo (78) and Alex Garcia (+100) lost their first bouts to British Natalie Powel and Azeri Ushagi Kokauri respectively.

In the first two days of the contest, Cubans Dayaris Mestre (48) and Ivan Silva (81) finished seventh in their respective divisions, both with one win and two losses, while Maricet Espinosa (63) and Onix Cortes (70) also lost in their first bouts.

Cuba finished seventh in the standings with one gold medal, behind Japan (5-0-2), Azerbaijan (2-0-2), United States (2-0-0), Mongolia (1-2-1), the Netherlands (1-1-3) and South Korea (1-0-3), and ahead of Romania (1-0-0) due to one fifth and two seventh seats.

This tournament in Guadalajara was attended by 231judokas -115 men and 116 women from 51 countries.
The Olympic ranking awards 22 (m) and 14 (w) direct tickets to Rio de Janeiro 2016, where there will also be the judokas qualified through the continental list.
