Cuba to face Mexico in semi-finals of Pan American Volleyball Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, May 25 (acn) The Cuban men's team will face Mexico today, in one of the two semifinal matches of the Pan American Volleyball Cup, based in Juan Barrera Gym in Mexico City, event which grants five tickets for the World League.

Cuba advanced directly to the important stage by leading Group B with eight points, two wins and no losses, while Mexico, second in Poole C (9-2-1) had to beat 3-0 Dominican Republic in the quarterfinals last night.
The undefeated performance of the disciples of Rodolfo Sanchez includes wins over Costa Rica (3-0) and Canada (3-2).
In the other semifinal, Argentina, leader of Poole C (14-3-0), will face Canada, second of Group B (7-1-1), which beat 3-1 USA last night.
Positions from seventh to tenth will also be defined today through the matches Honduras-Costa Rica and Colombia-Chile.
The winners of the semifinals will fight tomorrow for the title, while the losers will battle for bronze medal also on Thursday.
This contest grants five tickets for the coming World League, three for North, Central America and the Caribbean and two for South America.
