HAVANA, Cuba, May 23 (acn) The Cuban men's team will seek today its second win in the Pan American Volleyball Cup after defeating Costa Rica on Sunday in match of qualifying group B, based on Juan de la Berrera Olympic Gymnasium, in Mexico City.
According to the website of the tournament, qualifying for the 2017 World League, Cuba will face Canada today after having beat Costa Ricans 3-0 (25-11, 25-16 and 25-18) with special highlight for blocking.
In the match there were offensive highlight for Cubans Dariel Albo who scored 16 points, Osniel Melgarejo (10), Livan Osoria and Abrahan Alfonso (9), while Costa Rica's scoring leader was Alberto Blanco (8).
On Sunday's other results, the Dominican Republic beat 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 26-24 and 25-23) Chile in group A, and Argentina defeated 3-0 (25-10, 25- 19 and 25-16) Honduras in poole C.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, first day of the contest, USA won 3-1 over Chile in Group A, Canada defeated 3-0 Costa Rica (B) and Argentina and Mexico beat 3-0 Colombia and Honduras (C), in that order.
