Cuban pole vaulter finishes third in RabatHAVANA, Cuba, May 23 (acn) Cuban pole vaulter Yarisley Silva, London 2012 Olympic runner-up, won the bronze medal at the third stop of the Diamond League, based in Rabat, Morocco.

Silva, outdoor and indoor universal monarch, barely exceeded the height of 4.50 meters in an event won by Greek Ekaterini Stefanidi (4.75), according to the website of the International Athletics Federation.

Nicole Büchler (4.70), from Switzerland, finished second in a final that only brought together six competitors, so them all earned points for the ranking.

This was Yarisley´s debut in the strong athletic contest, where she won four units through her third seat, performance she will try to improve on June 2nd in Rome, Italy, stage of the fifth stop.

This event on Moroccan soil was Yarisley´s second competition of the season , after winning the silver medal in the 55th Ostrava Golden Spike meeting, in the Czech Republic, on May 20th.

The Diamond League, in its seventh edition, will have 14 stops and a new scoring system was adopted this year to make it even more interesting and competitive.

For example, now the new system will reward those who finish among the six first seats, so the winners will get 10 points, runner-ups will earn six and those finishing third will gain four units.

In addition, those finishing fourth, fifth and sixth will receive three, two and one points, respectively.
