HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (acn) Frank Consuegra will be responsible for Cuba´s debut today in the men's individual time trial event of the Pan American Road Cycling Championships, based in Tachira, Venezuela.
The race comprises about 32.6 kilometers between the towns of Rubio and Bramón, opening day which will also includes women's (19.3 km) and U-23 (31.2 km) events, according to the website of the sport in that country.
The women's team is made up by the Pan American multi-champion Arlenis Sierra, Marlies Mejias, Iraida Garcia and Yumari Gonzalez, who will seek earning as many points as possible for their qualification to Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics, to be held in Brazil next August.
In addition to Consuegra, the men's side also includes Jans Carlos Arias and Onel Santa Clara, triad that will compete on Sunday at the road race of 176 km in the town of San Cristobal.
Also, the Cuban women will make their debut on Saturday in the same stage but with a route of 86 km, while the U-23 team will cover a distance of 124 km, while on Friday it will take place the Congress of the Pan American Cycling Confederation.
