HAVANA, Cuba, May 3 (acn) Cuban Manrique Larduet won the silver medal in parallel bars with score of 15,475 units in the FIG World Challenge Cup held in the Croatian city of Osijek.
The leading figure of Cuban gymnastics told ACN via Facebook that in this occasion he used an execution with lower degree of difficulty in the dismount, with regard to that used in the qualifying round, due to a fall earlier in the horizontal bar final.
According to his coach Carlos Rafael Gil, it was decided not to force him in parallel bars, but just finishing the tournament, which serves as training for the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
In the preliminary phase, Larduet had reached the third best score (15,600 points), event in which he premiered a masterful dismount with G value -top-, a double front with a full twist which will subsequently be named the Larduet in the men's code of points.
Manrique escorted on the awards podium to Russian Emin Garibov, monarch with score of 15,750, while the bronze medal went to American Sean Melton (14,875), according to the official website of the European tourney.
Meanwhile, in the horizontal bar final, the Cuban athlete finished fifth with score of 14,575, behind Turkish Umit Samiloglu (1st with 15,225), American Paul Ruggeri III (2 / 15,050), Swiss Oliver Hegi (3 / 14,700 ) and Croatian Tin Srbi (4 / 14,700), in that order.
Larduet´s performance also included a creditable fourth seat in the rings, with score of 15,275, surpassed only by Russian Denis Abliazin (Gold / 15,825), Colak (Silver / 15,675) and Ukrainian Igor Radivilov (Bronze / 15,500).
