HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 29 (acn) Cuban Olga Echenique appears ninth in the fifth and penultimate stage of the Gaes Titan Desert by Garmin 2016 held in Morocco with time of 27: 52.40 hours.
The Cuban athlete, who competes for the BICIPARK TEAM W2W - ITP 3, will try to improve the good impression she has left in the preceding segments, when involved in a circuit of 95 km within the region of Merzouga.
According to the official website of the event, Echenique´s best performance was yesterday, when finishing fifth in the demanding circuit of 144 kilometers between Rissani and Merzouga, with time of 7: 27.26 h, stage won again by Ramona Gabriel Batalla (6: 51.45 / SCOTT-TAYMORY RACING TEAM).
Indeed, Batalla has starred in a major feat by winning the four previous stages, so she leads the overall standings with time of 21: 00.43, followed in that order by Sandra Santayes (21: 57.41) and Maya Noriega (3/22: 35.12), both from the MMR POWERADE.
The spectacular event, which takes place every year in the Moroccan desert, will conclude on Saturday with a tour of 79 km between the towns of Merzouga and Maadid where surely Ramona Gabriel will be crowned as the new champion of the tourney.
