HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 22 (acn) The presidents of Cuba and the United States, Raul Castro and Barack Obama, respectively, went to the Latinoamericano Stadium in Havana to witness the historical baseball match between the Cuban national team and the Tampa Bay Rays, from the MLB.
The honor of making the first pitches in a game that close a 17 year gap since the Baltimore Orioles played in Havana, fell on the top winner pitcher of Series Nacionales, Pedro Luis Lazo, and three-time MLB All-star Cuban American Luis Tiant.
The two presidents watched two innings before Obama had to leave for the airport, where the Air Force One will take him to Argentina, after a three day visit to Cuba with his family and government officials
Before the game, and as part of the ceremony, all people in attendance observed a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the terrorist attack that took place this Tuesday in Brussels, Belgium.
