HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 21 (acn) Cuba won three titles in the Olympic Qualifying Boxing Tournament of Buenos Aires, Argentina, through Leinier Peró (+91 kilograms), Roniel Iglesias (69) and Erislandy Savón (91), earning thus also their tickets to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics.
Pero and Iglesias beat, 3-0 in both cases, Trinitarian Paul Nigel and Venezuelan Gabriel Mestre, in that order, while Savon won by forfeit over local Yamil Peralta, according to Prensa latina News Agency.
The other Cuban boxer attending the Argentine event was Robeisy Ramirez (56), who lost in his debut and could not reach the ticket for the Brazilian Olympics to be held next August.
Cuba has already qualified nine boxers for Rio de Janeiro, list completed by Johannys Argilagos (49), Yosbany Veitía (52), Lazaro Alvarez (60), Yasnier Toledo (64), Arlen Lopez (75) and Julio Cesar La Cruz (81).
The Caribbean nation could be presented with its entire team in the Brazilian city if it can win in a future tournament the seat that was elusive this time to the Olympic champion Ramirez.
