Cubans to debut in World Track Cycling Championships,

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 2 (acn) Cuban women Lisandra Guerra and Arlenis Sierra will debut next Thursday during the second day of the World Track Cycling Championships, with a stage in the British city of London.

With the mission to achieve the most points to the Olympic ranking, Guerra will begin her participation in the keirin, event in which she won the bronze medal in the previous edition of Paris (2015), France, reflects the official website contest.
Also, Sierra will start her activities in the scratch, event she won in the first phase of the World Cup of Cali, Colombia, in October 2015, to the surprise of specialists and competitors.
A day later, Lisandra will be involved in the 500 meters time trial, her main event in the international arena, while on Saturday she will participate in the qualifying round of individual speed, which will have its final phase on Sunday, last day of the contest.
Meanwhile, Arlenis will also participate in the penultimate day of competition in the points race event, while the also Cuban Marlies Mejías will begin her foray into the grueling event of omnium, also with the aspiration of achieving the ticket to the Olympics of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in coming August.
