Cuban Guerrero wins Guatemala badminton tournament

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 29 (acn) Cuban Osleni Guerrero won the Guatemala badminton tournament, which has International Series category and earned thus 2 500 points for the world ranking.
Guerrero, second seed in the men's individual event, beat in the final the local Kevin Cordon, first seed, by forfeit.

On semifinals, Guerrero defeat Mexican Luis Ramón Garrido 2-1 (20-22, 21-10 and 21-14) in 52 minutes , as reflected in the official site of the contest.
With this result, Osleni advanced to the discussion of the gold medal against Cordon, who won 2-0 (21-14 and 21-12) over Mexico's Job Castillo in the other semifinal match .
Cordon and Guerrero have faced each other in several occasions but their most memorable match is the one for the gold medal at Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games, event in which the Guatemalan beat the Cuban.
The Havana -born athlete was bye in the first round of this tourney and then defeated M exican Lino Muñoz 2-0 (21-12 and 21-16) and American Bjorn Seguin 2-1 (25-27, 21-14 and 21-16).
