HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 23 (acn) Cuban Leinier Domínguez will be from today among the 16 players attending the men's chess tournament of the Mind Games in the Chinese city of Huian.
Leinier exhibits the sixth best Elo (2 732 p oints) in a list topped by Chinese Diren Ling (2 766) and Indian Pentala Harikrisna (2 753), according to the website of the organizers.
The contest is also attended by Azeri Shakriyar Mamedyarov (2 747), Russian Evgeny Tomashevsky (2 728) and Polish Radoslaw Wojtaszek (2 727), just to mention some of the better known players.
The women's event also includes stars such as Chinese Wenjun Ju (2 558), Russians Alexandra Kosteniuk (2 554) and Kateryna Lagno ( 2 529) and India's Harika Dronavalli (2 511).
Scheduled for March 2, the competition took the name of IMSA Elite Mind Games, responding to the acronym of the International Mind Sports Association, and replaces the one governed until 2014 by SportAccord.
But chess did not change its format and will generate emotions with three events: seven rounds of rapid games, 30 of Blitz and the Basque system.
Leinier´s best result in these events was a fourth seat in rapid games in 2011.
In addition to chess, there will be specialists in bridge, go, Xiangqi and checkers.
