HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 13 (acn) Cuba will debut today in the European Open Judo Tournaments in Rome, Italy, women's event, and Oberwart , Austria , men's contest, through Dayaris Mestre, in the 48 kg, Maricet Espinosa (63) and Magdiel Estrada (73) respectively .
According to the web sites of the tourneys, Mestre will debut against Italy's Angela Giamate and Espinosa will fight with French Cloe Yvin, while Estrada will have to wait for the winner of the bout between Mohammed Alharbi, from Saudi Arabia, and German Robert Bawig .
Onix Cortés (70), Yalennis Castillo ( 78) and Idalis Ortiz (+78) will be the other Cuban representatives, on Sunday, in the Italian capital.
Meanwhile, Ivan Silva (81), Jose Armenteros (100) and Alex Garcia (over 100) will be the rest of the Caribbean contestants on Austrian soil.
The Italian event is attended by 139 judokas from 29 countries, while 242 men from 48 nations were registered in Oberwart.
The main objective of the disciples of Armando Padron and Justo Noda is to continue adding points for the world ranking toward the Olympic Games next August in Rio de Janeiro.
These are the second stops of the Cuban judokas on their tour to Europe, as in the previous weekend they competed in the Grand Slam of Paris, with the best result for Mestre, who finished seventh.
The tour will conclude with the Dusseldorf Grand Prix, in Germany (for both sexes) to be held from February 19 to 21
