HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 11 (acn) Focused on his goal of qualifying for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Cuban Osleni Guerrero continues his preparation in order to participate in Guatemala Open, to be held in the last week of February.
Guerrero, 57th in the world rankings, attended this year the International Series tournament in Manhattan Beach, Los Angeles, United States –which finished last Sunday- event in which he could only score 920 points for the universal ranking.
I'm not at one hundred percent of my capability because I started training just on the first days of January, but I will continue my training to achieve soon my best sportsmanlike manner, he told ACN via facebook after being eliminated in the US tourney.
Now Osleni is focused on improving his performance in the next competition, the Guatemala Open, event where he could face one of his strongest opponents, local Kevin Cordon, 44th in the world list.
Guerrero, runner-up in Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games -where he beat Cordon in the final-, in his Olympic qualifying route must also compete in the international tournaments of Peru, Jamaica and Giraldilla of Havana; then the Grand Prix of Sao Paulo, the Peru Challenge and the Chile International.
These events will be crucial in his aspirations to attend the Olympics, which qualifying process closes on May 1st.
In 2015, the Cuban player won the gold medal in the tournaments of Havana, Chile and Suriname, held in March, May and November, respectively.
