HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 29 (acn) Ciego de Avila, baseball team that will represent Cuba in the Caribbean Series, based in the Dominican Republic next February, will be given the flag in the pastures of Lazaro Lopez, National Monument.
"The Ciego de Avila Tigers", with reinforcements from other Cuban squads, trained at José Ramón Cepero stadium and will leave for Santo Domingo on January 31 from Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.
Under the command of the experienced coach Roger Machado, the team will attend the Caribbean baseball classic with the aim of fighting for the title won last year in San Juan, Puerto Rico, by the Pinar del Río Vegueros.
The Tigers will debut the second day of the contest, February 2nd, against the Mazatlan Venados, champions of the 2015-2016 Mexican Pacific League, in a hard-fought fifth game won 4-3 over the Mexicali Aguilas.
