Nadia Comaneci is in Havana

nadia comaneciHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 21 (acn) The stellar former Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci will give prestige to the National School of Gymnastics with her presence, when making an official visit on Friday morning to this facility as part of her stay on the island.
Comaneci, Olympic multi-champion is in Cuba at the invitation of the organizers of the Judo Grand Prix; to be held from January 22 to 24 in the Sports City Coliseum, in Havana, informed the press department of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation.
With this tour, the students of this educational institution will have the opportunity to share with who is considered by many the best exponent of this sport in the world of all time, who in her time of active sportswoman was the first competitor to receive the mythical score of 10 points.
Nadia shows in her showcases nine Olympic medals, including five gold (three in Montreal 1976 and two in Moscow 1980), three silver and one bronze, plus two crowns and the same number of subtitles in World Championships and a total of nine scepters and two bronzes in European events.
The new National Gymnastics School, founded in 2006, is home to athletes of this sport at all levels and from all Cuban regions, in the modalities of rhythmic, artistic and trampoline.
The achievements of this facility in nearly 10 years include the historic performance recently carried out by Manrique Larduet in Glasgow 2015 world championships, where he won the silver medal in the all around event and bronze medal in horizontal bar, the latter performance granted him the ticket to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), in August.
