HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 15 (acn) Ciego de Ávila kept its winning streak at the head of the Cuban baseball championship and added its eighth consecutive victory by beating 8-2 Holguin.
Raul Gonzalez and Abdel Civil led Ciego de Avila's offensive with two RBIs per capita, while Yusnier Corrales allowed five hits and one earned run in six innings to win the game, supported by Yunier Cano's tenth save.
Existing national monarchs occupy the top of the standings with 44 wins and 21 defeats, three games ahead of Pinar del Rio, which was ratified in second seat after beating 2-1 Industriales.
Reinier Leon hit 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI to lead Pinar del Rio´s offensive, while Yaifredo Dominguez reached his seventh win of the year after allowing eight hits and one earned run in six innings and Livan Moinelo achieved his tenth save.
