Baseball game between Cuba and the Netherlands suspended due to rain

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 13 (acn) The weather conditions in the western region caused the cancellation of the baseball match between Cuba and the Netherlands, scheduled for the Latinoamericano stadium in this city.
Despite the interest of both parties to celebrate the exchange event, conceived as a contribution to the rapprochement between the island and Holland, the heavy rains for several days generated its final cancellation, says a note issued by the Cuban Baseball Federation.
The program of the event included a home run derby and a five-innings friendly match between two teams representing Cuba and the Netherlands, initially agreed to late Monday, while a clinic for children under 12 would be conducted on Tuesday.
Visitors and hosts regretted the suspension of the baseball exchange and highlighted the conversations held by both sides about the purpose of strengthening relations, without ruling out that the meeting will take place at another time.
The two countries have also planned an official bilateral match in the midst of efforts to endorse the return of baseball to the program of the Olympic Games.
